The Center for Youth Justice (CYJ) at Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy was thrilled to welcome representatives from Mississippi’s youth-serving systems for in-person kickoff sessions focused on advancing collaboration to reduce crossover.

Staff and personnel from Mississippi’s Administrative Office of Courts, Youth Court Judge’s Council, Department of Human Services, Department of Child Protection Services, Attorney General’s Office, and the Office of State Public Defender came to Washington, D.C. to receive training and engage in activities related to crossover youth.

Over the span of the kickoff sessions on June 4th and 5th, the interagency Mississippi team gathered together with leading experts to facilitate meaningful cross-system conversations and a system assessment of how the collective partners support youth involved in both the child welfare and youth legal systems. This interactive training laid the foundation for participants to utilize a common language and understanding of crossover youth.

We at the Center for Youth Justice are thrilled to kick off this partnership with such a deeply committed, professional, and caring team from Mississippi!
