A Warm Welcome to Visiting Researcher Dr. Lewis Lee!

We are thrilled to be joined this semester by Dr. Lewis Lee, Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Alabama.
Dr. Lee is joining the Center to collaborate on projects related to the Crossover Youth Practice Model (CYPM), evaluation research, data workshops, and more!
About Dr. Lee
Lewis H. Lee, PhD, MSW is a Visiting Researcher at the Center for Youth Justice (CYJ) at Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy and an Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Alabama (UA). He also serves as Research Faculty at UA’s Youth Services Institute, where he has led program evaluation and validation initiatives for the Alabama Department of Youth Services.
During his 2025 fall sabbatical, Dr. Lee is joining CYJ to collaborate on projects related to the Crossover Youth Practice Model (CYPM), evaluation research, and data workshops with the certificate programs team, as well as related projects. His research broadly examines the lives of youth involved in the justice system, focusing on the interplay of micro- and macro-level factors, including environmental conditions, and their impacts on health and well-being.
Dr. Lee’s scholarship has appeared in leading journals, including the Journal of the Society for Social Work and Research,Children and Youth Services Review, Crime & Delinquency, International Journal of Environmental Health Research, Health & Place, Youth & Society, Social Work Research, and the Community Mental Health Journal, among others. He earned his PhD in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh, MSW from the University of Pennsylvania, and BA and MA from Korea University. He is also a certified Health Disparities Researcher through the Deep South Resource Center for Minority Aging Research (RCMAR) Fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s School of Medicine.
