Work with jurisdictions across the country to implement sustainable and effective strategies that reimagine and expand the role of diversion.

We’re pleased to announce that we’re opening the application window for our Diversion in Youth Justice Certificate Program. Preventing legal system involvement for youth where possible and embracing community-driven models and approaches helps prevent cascading harms to youth, families, and communities.  However, diversion programs require thoughtful collaboration between a wide set of system partners.

The Diversion in Youth Justice Certificate Program is a four-day, in-person intensive designed to help multidisciplinary teams build more equitable, effective, and sustainable strategies to divert young people from formal court processing. Held in Washington, D.C. from September 30-October 3, 2025, the program brings together court leaders, educators, behavioral health providers, law enforcement, and community-based partners to reimagine and expand the use of diversion in youth justice. Participants will explore promising and evidence-based practices, including:

  • Pre-arrest and pre-court diversion models
  • Behavioral health and restorative response
  • School-based and community-led initiatives

Through a curriculum grounded in positive youth development, racial equity, and cross-system collaboration, teams will engage in interactive planning, structured peer exchange, and dynamic sessions facilitated by national experts. Participants will leave with actionable next steps tailored to their local context, along with 12 months of individualized technical assistance to support implementation.

Whether your jurisdiction is in the early stages or ready to scale existing efforts, this program offers the clarity, structure, and momentum to drive meaningful, community-rooted change.
